    In our current would nothing is for sure. There have been times in which you are expecting one thing, but unfortunately another thing actually happens. That is not what you were expecting. So what you need to do is ensure you do everything that his possible to get what you are expecting. In self storage it would seem that people do not think ahead and they think that something will be there when they call upon it. People end up calling a self storage facility and tell them that they needed a self storage unit yesterday. Well the property manager will most likely tell them they might be able to help them still, but there will be times in which the customer will not be helped. They should have called ahead and reserved a unit.
    People will often make phone calls while they are driving. If they call a property manager and the manger has exactly what they are looking for the customer should go ahead and reserve the space. If you are driving and cannot get to your card to reserve, you should pull over to get your card so that you do not miss out on the space. For the most part you will be in an area soon that you will be able to pull over and reserve the space.
    There are a lot of reasons to reserve, but the most important one is that the unit will actually be there when you go to get it. The worst thing that could happen is that you wait to long to reserve the space and then you have to get something that you did not want. If you call ahead enough the property manager can actually put the space you want on hold. That will defiantly make your day a little easier knowing that you have the space you want.

    Just what exactly is a loading bay?  In terms of self storage, a loading bay is a dock in which you can more easily load and unload your belongings.  The bay looks similar to docks in the back of business.  Large semi trucks use the docks to pull the trucks up, and unload product.  In storage the idea is similar.  Many storage bays can fit smaller trucks than those of its larger counterparts.  Also, the loading bays are often very close to the facility entrances and/or elevator, making access even easier.  If a storage facility does not have loading bays, they often use hand carts or dollies instead.  While it is more convenient than carrying things yourself, it is still more of a hassle than using the bays.

You will have people call into your self storage facility telling you they want one thing, but they will really be in need of something completely different. You have to be the one to be able to tell them straight with confidence that you have their best interest in mind. You have to earn the trust of the individual and in tern they will rent a storage unit from you.
    I spoke to a young woman on the phone last week.  She was looking for a storage unit to hold various bins and furniture.  She was adamant on a standard, non climate controlled unit.  When I asked her specifically what was going into the unit, she explained there would be some electronics and their computer.  I advised that she really did need a climate controlled space to protect those things.  She still wanted a standard unit.  However, once I pulled up the rates, I found we only had climate controlled units available.  I explained that they were actually cheaper with the special being offered.  I joked that it must have been meant to be.  She decided in the end to go with the climate controlled space.  Her things will be much safer and secure because of her smart decision.

    What do you do when you need a storage unit, but are not ready to rent yet?  You reserve it!  That would make sense to a lot of different people. Naturally man people do wait to the last minute in order to take care of things. Sometimes waiting until the last minute does not always get us what we are looking for and sometimes costs us money. No one likes to lose money but it is our own faults that cause this to happen. When it comes to self storage we have the option to reserve a space before hand and that will help us capture the deal we are looking to get.
    Today, there are a ton of storage facilities.  So, when you find one you like, it is important to hold the unit so it is available when you need it.  Most facilities will charge a small pre pay towards the rent to hold the space.  However, there are a few facilities that will reserve a unit for free!  Either way, it is very important, especially during the busy season.
    While units are not always sold out, tenants come and go on a regular basis, so there are always more people to fill the opening spots.  The next time you need storage, do your research and make sure what you need is set aside for you by making a reservation. There is nothing wrong with making sure you have something waiting for you and planning ahead. Reserving a unit now is better than the alternative, not having a unit.

  • See Chicago More Comfortably When You Rent Storage

    Hyde Park self storage places are in downtown Chicago, Illinois.  Hyde Park is a famous area of Chicago with great homes to live, great academic area and great places to do and see.  Great museums are nearby and the coalmine and submarine inside the Musuem of Science and Industry are always a delight to see.  If you get there early, you can avoid lines to these two exhibits.  They are both very popular and as the day goes on the lines get longer.  Some lines can be an hour or two long, so get there early to avoid those lines.  It is a real coal mine and the history of coalmines is very interesting and even the kids will love it.  An elevator takes you down to an underground train station, and off you go moving underground in a coalmine.  It is dark but the exhibits are lighted as you look at how coal is found, and gotten out of the ground.  New machines help quite a bit we learn than years ago when the work was very hard and dangerous.  We wonder how hard life was that many years ago, when the advent of coalmines was in session.  It was very hard work and the danger was all around.  Coal fueled our country, and it is still very important to the United States of America.  We have all kinds of debates on clean coal or dirty coal.

    Hyde Park self storage places are in downtown Chicago.  They were in the news a little bit not long ago, as our next President of the United States worked and lived here.  It is known as a very liberal area to work and live in, but no one can doubt the great University of Chicago as being one of the great universities in the world.  You can also walk through a giant human heart and learn all about health in the museum.  Computers and medical things and in a matter of fact, Chicago has many museums to visit all over the city.  Hyde Park is also a place you want to get up and walk around in.  It is hip and trendy and the parks are big and spacious.  Trains are everywhere, and stops are frequent.  The buildings are great to look at too as the old and new mesh together in the beautiful Chicago skyline.  This is supposed to be White Sox country too you know, but there might be a few Cub fans too.  The President of the United States of America has said he is a White Sox fan.

    Hyde Park self storage areas in Chicago, Illinois has received its fifteen minutes of fame with the President.  It hit the map on the social mind of us and there has been a little chiding by the far right on what kind of a community and place it is.  Politics is a funny animal though, and it has been this way since politics started.  We call it healthy debate and that is all good.  Chicago is a liberal city by anyone’s standard.  Chicago does not deny this; the Democratic Party has a virtual lock on the city.  We love Chicago and Northbrook and will visit it again very soon.  We can not miss a summer in Chicago can we?

  • The Big Apple is Less Daunting with Storage on Your Side

    What can you say about Brooklyn, New York and moving to such a place?  Our first start was a Brooklyn storage place owned and run by a company out of Columbia, Missouri called Storagemart.  It was a good beginning because we only heard things about Brooklyn and some of them were negative of course.  People are rude there our friends told us.

    You will miss Texas.  The cold will kill you.  The crime is horrible and you will be mugged everyday.  Watch yourself.  What about Houston and Dallas I thought to myself.  Are these cities safe?  Have you seen the news?  This Brooklyn storage place was not rude but very helpful in our time of need and semi panic.  Texans do not move to Brooklyn often and I was breaking new ground I felt.  We are representing Texas here and our good humor and Southern hospitality would win out, change all this rudeness, and stuff like that.  We were still a little scared though.

    New York can be very daunting.  We watched the professional movers unload our truck and move our life in a very big storage space in a climate controlled space.  We researched storage places off the web and we even knew some of the lingo used in the business.  Climate controlled meant the space is warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.  We bought mattress covers and slotted boxes for dishes and glasses.  We bought foam and wardrobe boxes to hang our most valuable clothes.  We bought small boxes for books and large boxes for clothes.  We bought short wardrobe boxes and tall ones.  We cut tape and wrote on boxes words like kitchen and Mom bedroom and the like.  The movers put large mirrors in between mattresses and aquariums stuffed with blankets.

    Our dog rode a thousand miles with us with potty breaks along the way.  She slept most of the time.  She was glad she was in the car.  We think she thought she was staying for a while but she was coming.  She looked out the window, the wind blew her ears back, and we all laughed.  As a kid, we did that too.  My father said that would harm me in some way but I never knew what he meant by that.  Ginger our dog does it all the time but she is a dog.  My father reminded me I was not a dog and sticking my head out the window in a car was not good.  I do not know if it is true or not.  We could look on Doctor Web or whatever that website is called to make sure.  After all these years, you remember such things.  It is this moving thing that affects us in such ways, you know.  You have time to think about a lot of things.  Moving is a difficult process.  First, you are super busy planning, thinking, and packing.  Next you have time to ponder the move, is it the right step for your family and the like.  Brooklyn storage was a pretty good first step though.  Storagemart treated us very well and we felt good about everything.  It was getting exciting.  We talked about Times Square and the statue of Liberty and the Yankees.  Wait a minute.  We do not like the Yankees.

  • Show Me Great Storage Solutions

    Columbia, Missouri is home to the Mizzou Tigers.  This great university is the centerpiece for this lovely little town in the middle of the state.  Their football team and basketball team is always fighting for championships in the men’s divisions.  It is also home to the great American company Storagemart.

    Here, Columbia storage facilities are spread across the city where it all first started.  It is a very innovative company, which has changed how consumers store their valuable possessions.  The days of old ugly buildings ran by managers who are not there or are just babysitters, are gone.  Storagemart and Columbia storage facilities are not that at all.  They are well lit and climate controlled.  The managers are professionals and experts in the field and able to assist the customer in their decisions to store their valuables.

    What size of a Columbia storage space do you need for a two-bedroom house or a one-bedroom apartment?  Can you store a boat or a car?  All the collage students come to this company to store things a small dorm room can not hold.  This is a fun time for the managers of these Columbia storage facilities as hundreds of new students make their way to collage.

    The city adds thousands of new people, and the streets are alive with excited students, and the parents visiting all the downtown places and all the activities here.  Columbia has great parks, a lively downtown area, and great neighborhoods to see.  The food is good here filled with pizza places, bars, live music venues and many sports to watch.  It is cheep to go see a volleyball game or a baseball game or a soccer match.  It is a city that is growing, ten thousand more in the last two years.  It has been in the top forty of best places to live in America, and sometimes even higher than that in years past.  Football Saturdays are very exciting and tailgating is always a fun thing to watch or do.  Students flock here from all over the nation to learn and study.  The journalism collage is highly rated and the University of Missouri is a top fifty school in America.  The city is also close to St. Louis and Kansas City.  It is close to Branson and giant lakes are only minutes away where boating, fishing, and boardwalks are.  Students are never bored here as a vibrant nightlife brings in top talent like big name bands that play in small cozy venues.  The Hearns center hosts concerts and sporting events and the football field is seen from the busy streets in front of the campus.  Museums on campus boast fine art and sculpture.  The show me games take place here in Columbia, where adults and children alike participate in all sports to promote health and competition.  Trails abound as people stroll or bike through wooded areas and high rising hills where Lewis and Clarke once trail blazed.  History and clean air and a fine university are all here.  Jobs are here and people enjoy low rents and nice prices on homes and good schools and friendly neighbors.  People hunt and fish and put their boats in Mark Twain Lake.  Oh, yeah, did we mention Mark Twain and all the caves here?  Tom Sawyer?

  • All Hours Access is an Option at Many Storage Facilities

    If you have been in the North Kansas City self storage industry long enough, you know that competition in Missouri is tough. There are things that you can do to really set your North Kansas City self storage apart from the rest. There are many great little things that you can do that will really help your business.

    One thing that will really prevent you company from achieving your goals is working around the schedules of the average customer. Most storage sites in Missouri have stores that close around five or six everyday with pretty minimal hours on the weekends. This makes it impossible for some customers to rent with you because they may not have jobs where they can just leave for any reason. You do not want to lose customers just because your store hours alienate them. Most North Kansas City self storage companies have these office hours for reasons of cost and you should not extend your store hours if you think that you cannot afford the extra cost.

    Are you looking to improve your numbers at a self storage call center?  Are you sick and tired of not making the sales that you know you should be making?  Are you looking for a little bit of advice when it comes to keeping your stats higher than the rest of your coworkers?  If so, then you have certainly arrived at the right article.  If you pay attention to the advice contained herein, then you are going to see your sales figures improving before you even know it.  Improvement is just around the corner, and you are now officially taking the first step towards it.

    The first thing that you are going to have to work on, here, is your approach.  If you find that you are blaming the product for your lack of sales, then you need to drastically rethink your approach.  Perhaps you are coming on too strong?  Perhaps you are freaking out your callers by giving them too much information too quickly?  Maybe you are coming across as shallow, or as only wanting to make the sale.  If you find that you are making any of these mistakes, then you are going to have to work on being a bit more genuine when you are dealing with your customers.  You are going to have to be sure that you are approaching them with a smile, and that they can tell that you are not simply after their money.  If you can step in and convince them that you have the solution to their problem, then they are going to be much more willing to trust you and work with you.

    Now, I have said this before, and I am going to say it again.  When your caller begins to talk to you, he or she should be able to tell that you are smiling.  From the very start of the conversation, they should not have a question as to whether or not you want to be on the phone with them.  They should know that you are ready and willing to devote your undivided attention to working with them, and that you are not going to stop until you have found a solution to their problem.  When a customer can sense that you are this devoted to helping them, they are going to be much more willing to flip out the old wallet and send a credit card in your direction.  First, of course, you have to prove to them that you really do care about their situation.

    Finally, reader, you are going to have to work on the order in which you surrender your information.  If you are not in control of the phone call from the very start, then you know that you are already in trouble.  Be assertive the whole way through, and do it in such a way that you do not offend your caller.  If they are pulling you away from your script, come up with polite little reasons to return to the order that you prefer.  Before you know it, you are going to have the conversation back on track.
