Robin Turner PhoneSmart call center manager speaks about making an unexpected store closing less stressful for customers.
Welcome to our PhoneSmart Property Management blog and inside view of the self-storage industry
Once too often I have looked in the phone book or seen an ad of a store I wanted to shop at and have gotten there during normal business hours to find that the store was closed. Either the lights were on but the doors were locked or there was a simply sign stating they were closed. Well, how am I supposed to know when they’ll be back?In frustration you wonder, “Well what’s this all about? I wasted my time getting here to find that I can’t get in.” It leaves a bad taste in your mouth. I usually don’t use them as my first pick anymore because you don’t know what to expect. Some things that you can do to make an inconvenient situation a little more comforting, is to communicate with your customers by posting a sign in the window so they know what to expect. It is sort of like the phrase “no, we don’t offer that, however we do offer…”Be creative and have fun with it. Make the best out of a not so pleasant situation.
Try something like “Closed – Sorry for the inconvenience – We’ll return tomorrow during regular business hours”, or “Closed for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day – We’ll return on Monday…Enjoy the holidays!” A simple phrase like this can do a lot to ease the stress for an inconvenienced customer.PhoneSmart Your Source for Lead Generation
