Welcome to the property management blog, where we watch the world of property management.
Today I got to walk around some very nice real estate. I stopped for my morning coffee at the Lincoln pedestrian mall in South Beach. I strolled around for a little while and admired the neat shops, galleries and restaurants. I also admired the foresight of the people who developed the area. I think they had a handsome payback. However, I do not admire the people who manage the property. It was very trashy. There were cigarette butts and bits of litter everywhere. What is that all about? How could you have such a nice piece of real estate and let it look like a trash heap? How could you be a tenant there, paying the kind of square foot rates the market demands, without flipping out that the management company isn’t keeping your investment looking good?
It was the nicest of places. It was a trashy place. It was both. Go figure.
