One big convention and jamboree
-
Welcome to the property management blog, our diary of the property management industry.
If you had to make some effort at a rosy eyed re-framing of the evacuation disaster in the Gulf Coast, you might consider this to be one big convention or jamboree. Houston and Baton Rouge in particular are holding a huge reunion of New Orleans and Southeast Louisiana residents.
Now I once showed up at a conference to find I was not registered nor expected. This Gulf Coast reunion was certainly unplanned, if not unexpected. No one booked rooms for the 100,000 plus attendees. There was no time for an RSVP.The camping Jamoree along the Mississippi coast is going on without tents, sleeping bags or smors.
It is heart warming to see how “the people” are responding by doing all they can and then some to help those who had no plan to be camping in the rubble of their homes and those who had no idea they’d be attending a 9th Ward reunion in Houston.
Those property management firms in the areas people are being evacuated to are certainly under enormous pressure to get these attendees into some comfortable accomodations. My hat is off to you.
