Overcoming Personal Storage Solution
The most difficult decision in a storage customers life is deciding what to do with a lost family members personal storage . Selling or tossing away items that belonged to a love one usually is not an option. It is like erasing the memory of their life. The most difficult part in saving a lost one’s possessions is insufficient storage space. Team members here at the PhoneSmart call center are very sensitive to such issues. Everyday we take in calls from a grieving family member who is looking for temporary storage solutions for a lost family member’s personal storage until they find a permanent fix. Though these family members have found the correct storage solution, they are only a few. Most others are forced to make rash decisions before they consider self storage as a solution.
Reserve a storage unit to hold a lost one’s personal storage until a decision is made. It’s a better decision than storing furniture and clothes in your own home. Bringing personal storage back to your own home will only make it harder to depart with them. People become more personally attached to the personal storage that holds memories of the lost one as time goes by. Don’t set yourself up by bringing personal storage to your own home. Put it in a storage unit immediately.
There are many solutions on the faith of a lost ones personal storage; therefore, you want to use the right one. First put the personal storage in a self storage unit and consider these options or all of them.
You may want to sell the personal storage at a garage sale or an estate sell. It is a better solution than tossing the furniture and clothing in the garbage. Interested buyers can find good use of your late relative’s personal storage. They would be happy that someone else is creating their own memories with their old personal storage. If you feel disgusted by profiting from a late relatives personal storage then give the profits to charity in their name. It would be a wonderful way to honor their memory.
Other family members might be interested in a lost ones personal storage for their own home. Other family members can go to the storage unit and pick out what they want for themselves instead of going to your home. Plus, we tend to not have enough room in our homes for our own furniture storage and car storage. Therefore a storage unit will free you from the inconvenience of cluttering up your own home with someone elses personal storage.
How nice would it be to honor the memory of your late relative by giving their personal storage to charity? If you have no takers on your lost one’s personal storage , or if you don’t want to get involved with garage sales or estate sales, consider giving the personal storage to a charity in the love one’s name. It is your love ones last chance on doing something good in the world they left.
Our personal storage holds sentimental value. Wouldn’t you like to know that you personal storage went to good use after your death instead of rotting away and decaying in some landfill. There is no reason to make fast rash decisions. Use a storage unit and consider your options.

Storage ShedBy admin on December 21, 2007 | No Comments
Warning: gzinflate() [function.gzinflate]: data error in /home/property/public_html/wp-includes/http.php on line 1787
There is nothing uglier than a storage shed in a yard. These tin or wooden boxes become the focal point of the yard. Sometimes storage sheds are randomly placed, in the driveway, on a side yard, or in the backyard. And the older they get the uglier they get. A tin storage contracts rust as it ages. A wooden storage shed turns grey with age like a hunched over old man with a cane. Besides their repulsive appearance, a tin storage shed is noisy. Have you ever heard a neighbor open one up? It sounds like a bad car accident without glass shattering. The doors creek and the metal echoes pop noises as it bends.
The inside of these shed is unbearable too. I have not seen a storage shed that was well organized. Tools are randomly scattered about; power tools are hard to find; bikes are piled on top of one another. Getting the lawnmower out is always a chore. First you have to remove the snow blower, then take out the bicycles, but not before you get the hedge trimmer out of the way.
So why do people buy the obnoxious storage devices for their yard? They have too much stuff. Usually, a storage shed is installed to store outdoor tools, such as lawn mowers, leaf blowers, rakes, shovels, tractors, riding mowers, and bicycles. Storage shed people either do not have a garage or the garage is full. Storage shed people lack storage space in the basement for their outdoor equipment. These desperate people make a rash decision to buy a storage shed; they don’t review other options.
The better solution is to rent a storage unit. Storage units have more size options. You can rent a unit as small as a 5 by 5 and as big as 10 by 30. Don’t worry about how big of a storage unit you need because it won’t stand out on your property. You can store lawn tools seasonally. Keep the snow blower, snow shovels, salt bags, and sandbags in the storage unit during the summer; keep the lawnmower, rider mower, rakes, and bicycles in the storage unit in the winter. A storage unit has climate control options, unlike a storage shed. Climate control will enhance the life of your lawn equipment. All lawn equipment is subject to rust and climate control units will prevent rust from expanding.
If you were considering a storage shed, hopefully you did not buy one, because storage unit is the better choice. Call your local convenient location and schedule a guided tour with the property manager and see the benefits for yourself. Storage units are safe and secure; where as, storage sheds are vulnerable and ugly. Storage units have video surveillance. Unless you put up a video camera in your yard, storage sheds are unwatched. Storage units are well taken care of by a property management team. Storage sheds deteriorate as soon as you bring them home. Neighbors hate looking at storage sheds and you will too if you set one up next to the kids’ swing set.

Storage BinsBy admin on December 20, 2007 | No Comments
Warning: gzinflate() [function.gzinflate]: data error in /home/property/public_html/wp-includes/http.php on line 1787
Next to chocolate milk, the best invention ever created is the storage bin. What did people do before a storage bin became available? There are so many different kinds of storage bins and each is designed for a specific purpose.
Everyone needs to use a storage bin for one thing or another. They are perfect for holiday decorations. Christmas decorations can be neatly stored and organized in a storage bin. In fact, some storage bins are specifically designed for Christmas ordainments. Putting Christmas ordainments in normal cardboard box is a long tedious task. But it doesn’t have to be if you have one of these storage bins designed just for Christmas ordainments. Other Christmas decorations work nicely in normal storage bins. Put the Christmas lights and other Christmas decorations or holiday decorations in a storage bin.
Though it is that time of the year, but Christmas is not the only holiday where you can store decorations in a storage bin. Halloween decoration, Thanksgiving decorations, Chanukah decorations, and Forth of July decorations all fit inside a storage bin. There is no limit on what holiday decoration you can store in a storage bin.
Let’s compare the benefits a storage bin has above cardboard boxes. Basements are often used as a place for storage, but many basements are subject to flooding. Cardboard boxes do not hold up well in water. Like a sponge, they soak up flood water and ruined your holiday decorations. Even if your basement never floods, basements are very damp. Cardboard boxes inherit the dampness and causes mold to form. It wouldn’t be a very white Christmas with moldy holiday decorations. Storage bins on the other hand seal out flood water. As your basement floods up to your knees with water, the holiday decorations in a storage bin remain untouched.
A storage bin will out last a box’s life. When a box is used and reused it becomes more flimsy and breaks. A plastic storage bin remains intact no matter how many times it is used. If you are looking for something particular, you can see what is inside a storage bin without opening it. On the contrary, unless you have x ray vision, a cardboard box must be opened to see its contents. Storage bins have handy handles on the sides for easy toting. Heavy boxes must be carried carefully; otherwise, the bottom will break loose. Storage bins are stackable and won’t crush with weight; cardboard boxes compress and become lopsided when stacked. For overall appearance, a storage bin looks nicer then a brown box. Not only do they make your house clean and organized, they make your house look clean and organized.
Lastly, have you ever priced cardboard boxes? They are not cheap. You can find a storage bin on sale and pay less. They will outlast cardboard boxes so you won’t have that recurring cost. If you dig through the garbage, cardboard boxes are free. But do you really want to use an old dirty box for your Christmas decorations and holiday decorations? I think not.

Robin Turner PhoneSmart call center manager offers the following for our call center blog.
Welcome to the PhoneSmart property management blog and insider view of the property management industry.Lately, we have noticed a new property management trend that involves callers asking for a unit who obviously are not that familiar with storage or just don’t realize the importance of the information that we are looking for. Since we are the storage experts when it comes to dealing with storage customers and we can answer up to 100 or more calls a day, we find questions that the average storage store employee may not think of. Some callers (as far as I’m concerned) take a while in getting to the point when it comes to explaining what they’re storing, so I can quickly learn how to help them figure out what size they may need.
I’ve realized that sometimes when you simply ask up front, “what are you storing” it just doesn’t do the job to where I can quickly get the information I need to help determine what size or type of unit they may need. The caller who asks “ I need storage, what do you have?”… Or similar to that, just tells me that they’re not familiar enough with MY needs. Try this next time… “Is the for a business or is this for a household move”. Even your more reluctant and not so friendly callers, will open up with something like… “Oh, no, I’m only storing my bedroom set”, or you may get… “It’s for my business and I’m storing my files”. But you can hear a release of tension from the caller because they realize that “hey, that was an interesting question.” They weren’t expecting that one.Well, from there, you then know where you can go by asking relevant questions. Because many times if you only the basic question; “what are you storing?” You could get a generic answer like furniture. Well, both household and businesses both have furniture. If they say “boxes”, generally if it is for a business, it probably (not all the time) means file boxes, which are the same size and can be stacked very well. If for a household move, then you know that the boxes will definitely vary in shape and size.

Welcome to PhoneSmart’s property management blog, the ins and outs of property management trends. It would be wonderful if all of us had built in thesaurus implanted in our head. This will help us come up with synonyms for words to help communicate with our customers. Here are a few that I have run into while working in the storage industry:Limited availability…………………………….not many left, only a few
Administration fee………………………………set up charge/start up fee
Climate control………………………………….air conditioned or heated
Standard…………………………………………non-air conditioned or heated
24hr access………………………………………come in anytime
On site management team……………………….someone lives here at the facility
Pro rated…………………………………………only charged you for the days left
Cylinder lock ……………………………….the round lock that is most difficult to be broken into
Storage containers………………………………..storage units
Convenient………………………………………..easy to get/travel toThen there are those that were mention when discussing furniture:
Couch……………………………………….sofa
Dresser………………………………………chest of drawers
Bed……………………………………….…bunk
Plastic containers……………………………totes, storage bins
Bed/living room groups…………………….bed/living room sets, suites
Refrigerator…………………………………fridge, icebox
Freezer………………………………………deep freezer
Nightstand…………………………………..bedside table
Soda…………………………………………pop, coke, soda water, soft drinkWell the last example has nothing to do with the property management industry however the synonym is still helpful to know. In the sales and storage industry we must learn to adapt to our customers. I read somewhere that the reason why giraffes have long necks is because the food that they ate was higher than what they could reach with their short necks so they grew long ones. I am not sure if this is fiction or not but for the sake of this blog we are going to believe it is true. Salespeople should be able to adapt. We may not be able to have a brain-sized thesaurus inside of our head but we can learn how to use this list above as a quick reference!Self Storage in Maryland Call Tommy at (301)638-3100 and ask for a coupon.

Theses Are A Few Of My Favorite ThingsBy admin on July 20, 2006 | No Comments

By Liz Langesteiner bilingual phone rep and client services specialist offers her view of life in the PhoneSmart call center.
Welcome to the PhoneSmart call center blog, and insider view of the self-storage industry.
The dress code is my number one favorite thing about our call center that is located behind self storage in Columbia, MO. (Incidentally we specialize in taking missed calls in the storage industry and turning them into profit.) I no longer have concerns over tight constricting pantyhose; make up, high heels, acrylic nails, expensive haircuts and expensive overpriced Ann Taylor suits. I can even ride the bus to work, no more car payments!! I remember when the director said and I quote “ I don’t care how you dress just as long as you dress”. Since that day we have made a couple of modifications to the dress code. For example no tube tops (or the like) and your navel must be covered. I come to work in sweats, shorts, Tee shirts, sandals or running shoes. Ahh, the comfort. My other favorite thing is our location. We are located 2 minutes from the Bear Creek Trail. Just the other day while I was at work I decided to take my break and walk on the Bear Creek Trail. While on the trail I watched a buck cross my path after the buck crossed the walking path it stopped. I decided to stop and watch the buck. We watched each other for about 5 minutes I began to wonder why the buck doesn’t move on. I turned to my left and there was a doe. She was waiting for me to move on so she could join the buck. That was priceless and absolutely beautiful. On a busy day I will answer approximately 135 calls per day. I talk to people from all walks of life and people in every situation you can imagine. So it is real nice when you can lean back in your chair be comfortable and take a break on a nature trail.Storage Concierge Self Storage in Georgia

Ronald Smith, PhoneSmart call center operator advises us to listen carefully to our callers.
Welcome to the PhoneSmart Call Center blog an insider diary of the self-storage industry.
I have had the privilege of working in a number of customer service related jobs. I have worked with many people with different sorts of personalities. One of the most important things I have learned is that listening is a big part of the job description. I have had the honor of working with Hurricane Katrina Victims. My job was to file new insurance claims on the hurricane and follow up on existing claims. I remember a particular time when a woman looked at her house for the first time. She was devastated by the damage caused by the storm. She called in to make a claim on her home. I noticed on the screen that her insurance covered the damage done to her home. She needed to vent her hurt and she started to cry and tell me how much her home meant to her. I listened to her story and then offered a solution to her grief. I also offered her some comfort so that she could calm down. After we filed her claim, she thanked me for listening and told me that she appreciated that I cared enough to stop and listen to her situation. The same thing can be done with storage. People are calling for a wide variety of reasons and some can be tragic. On those calls you have to not worry so much about the sale but the customer as a person. Take the time to stop and listen but still control the call. Offer them a solution and show them that they aren’t just another caller looking for storage. This will leave a lasting image of what the company stands for.Storage Concierge Self Storage in Kansas

Sarah Little, PhoneSmart call center Secret Shop Specialist offers the following.Welcome to the PhoneSmart call center blog and insider view of the self-storage industry. After a little mishap with my airline tickets, I called the customer service department to check the availability on the earlier flight that I was hoping to catch. I’m going to have to go on stand by, so I wanted to know if there were even seats available.I called and spoke with a “starched” woman who spoke with a bite and she told me there was no chance of getting on that plane because they were overbooked. She then hung up.There was another flight departing a few hours later, so I called again and this time I spoke with a pleasant, cheerful woman. She asked if I wanted to purchase tickets, or if I was checking the status to go on stand by. I told her, and she let me know that the chances looked great for getting onboard.Although the first lady told me the earliest flight was booked, I asked the nicer lady to also check that flight. She said it looked about the same and I also had a good chance of getting onboard that flight as well.Hmmm…two completely different answers. Do I risk getting up early and not even getting on the first plane, or will the early bird get the worm? I’m going to chance it and get there early. (Cross my fingers) I’ll get on the plane.I called with not even 2 minutes between the calls and got completely different personalities and completely different answers. Wendy Lane seasoned PhoneSmart Call Center Representative speaks about her goals.
Welcome to the PhoneSmart property management blog, the ins and outs of property and commercial management. When I come into work each day I look at our call stats to see how the day has been so far. When I get done with that I mentally set a goal for myself to see where I may end up at the end of the day. If I set a goal and reach it I feel I have accomplished what I set out to do for the day. As business has picked up lately I have exceeded my goals on some days and fallen short on a few. Overall though I am pretty pleased with the way this busy season has gone so far. It has started off with a bang. Of course it is only going to get better through the summer months. If I set a goal though it can help make the day go by faster. Each reservation I get I am closer to the end of my shift.Sometimes, we even have a competition or two throughout the call center between coworkers. Often times, competition is the best motivator. I have seen some mean competition already this season. So set some goals and get some reservations! Who knows we may get a bonus or two from Tron!!PhoneSmart Your Source for Lead Generation
